Ghosts.
Like ghosts, carework can be invisible. My ceramic ghosts grew out of the feeling of being present, but unseen as a parent and women. I want the ghosts to feel like friends, rather than frights. Working in different sizes and techniques. People who tend, and things that go unseen are represented by a sculpture that deserve a physical space
historically and perpetually under valued, including in compensation. Many women disproportionately bear the load of emotional labor and care work, not to mention household and child rearing endeavors. Ghosts bring some levity to this topic, but also act as a reminder to stay true to oneself regardless of demands. Don’t fade away.
Your work is critical and priceless.
Much of care work is invisible.
