I imagine new characters in paint and clay, as a colorful reflection on the playful & imaginative nature of people.

My paintings start with (mostly) found photographs, which I turn into narratives using chromatic oil colors with expressionistic paint strokes. Figures are masked, costumed, or reimagined as friendly monsters. In clay, I use a combination of techniques, like slip molds, hand building, and various viscosity of clay bodies to create various ghostly shapes, with or without arms. My ghosts are faithful, helpful companions. Levity is critical in the final product.

Humans show a seriousness towards pretend and imaginative play around Halloween. People are generally given permission to explore their fears, become someone else, and generally commune with their inner child. My work tends to stay in that spirit all year round.
